Engineering is to correct P&IDs and will send drawings out next week. Engineering has requested TPD Process Engineering to write a description of operation for XB. This will be done once loop numbers are assigned. Met with Production Maintenance on the procedure using stainless steel refiner plates following primary plate crashes. Met with Sprout Bauer plate representative. He is to quote different refiner plate pattern with wider grooves for increased plate life. Also, he is going to quote the parts required to convert a dual inlet twin flo refiner to a single inlet upgraded machine. Discussions with Barry Bryant and Johnny Davis. They agree to try 3/4" slots in vacuum pipes on No. 7 Machine. Met with R&D personnel to plan for conducting plant trials to investigate lowering the ammonia application rate on A.E. products. This work is prompted by laboratory and plant data that indicate that significantly less ammonia is required to complete the desired ammonia reaction. Plans are to conduct the trials at 90 processing the first of May, 1991. Met with Central Engineering to discuss plant effluent issues associated with the production of G-7 products. Environmental Engineering must be kept informed of any new processes or modifications to processes that may impact emissions. 605 Met with Leaf Processing to discuss a problem with 20X and K20X being excessively contaminated with dust. Leaf Processing has agreed to reprocess about 25 boxes of scrap which were shipped to 605 for IPS. Additionally, a test will be run at 63 using very clean and also very dirty IPS material to determine if any differences in product quality can be found. Attended several XB meetings and design work is beginning which will locate three or four KDN condensate holding tanks near the incinerator. R&D has indicated a reserve osmosis concentrator unit will be used instead of an evaporator. Drawings of the 605 process control panels have been completed and will be reviewed with the 605 staff this week. After possible minor revisions, the incinerator training manual will be ready to issue. PRO Ran three tests on the WT line with shorts from charcoal filter cigarettes. Contamination counts from these will be available soon. QA has reported that the second run of MPET stripped packs processed at PRO on March 22 was found to contain NO MPET material. G-13 HCFC-123 - this week we received approximately 6,000 lbs. of HCFC-123 produced at Dupont's Maitland plant. We will hold this quantity and use it along with an additional 20,000 lbs. which Dupont says they will deliver by 4-22 to run the four-day test at Plant 601. In support of Project "BLS", G-13 has determined to have two options for blending CRS with G-13-24 blend: (1) Slower line speed with blend-back, and (2) layering in the G-13 bulker, 1/2 CRS : 1/2 G-13.
