These analyses were made on the smoke of ten brands of filter-tipped cigarettes, and on the smoke of these same brands after cutting off the filters. Smoke analysis values and certain other data are recorded in the following table. The smoke values are expressed in milligrams per cigarette. Fifty millimeters of each cigarette were burned. The smoke of WINSTON cigarettes is somewhat lower in both nicotine and total solids. Nicotine is slightly lower in the smoke of both Viceroy and Newport cigarettes. The smoke values obtained on L&M and Filter Kool cigarettes are significantly lower in nicotine. The smoke of Filter Kool cigarettes is also somewhat lower in total solids. Beverly N.
