ABC Chester, Virginia To: Distribution Date: 01/04/91 From: R. K. Garg Subject: NEW HOT PLATE "QUICK" CONSISTENCY TEST Precise consistency measurement is always desirable for refining control in the sheet forming process. It has been addressed again and again that error in freeness measurement is due to error in consistency measurement. It is necessary to measure consistency accurately every time freeness measurement is being performed. A quick consistency test method has been developed for tobacco stock and it has been tested statistically for its accuracy, linearity and reproducibility. The hot plate method showed a 50% reduction in measurement error in measurement of Canadian Standard freeness of stock as compared to Foxboro consistency method on Line III. Attached is a test request, test method and data sheet for new quick consistency test method. Please share this information with Area Senior Operator.
