Resnik DATE: June 24, 1964 FROM: Charles Varsel SUBJECT: Gas Phase Deliveries of Devon Cigarettes (DV-6X4EI) The gas phase deliveries of Devon cigarettes (DV-6X4EI) were determined before and after 11 days of accelerated aging: seven days hot-dry and four days hot-wet. The delivery of most gas phase components decreased after storage as can be seen in the accompanying table. This is converse to our findings with the carbon-filtered Paxton cigarettes Y6A4CP, PX6A4DA, and PX6A4DB. The gas phase index of these filters, prior to the accelerated aging, was 45%. The gas phase indices of individual plugs were quite variable; 34-56%. These indices were determined via the infrared-synthetic mixture technique. Distribution: cc: Dr. H. Wakeham Dr. C. V.
